Yanchep is an outer coast suburb of Perth, Western Australia, 56 km (35 mi) north of Perth central business district. It is part of the town Wanneroo local government area. Originally a small crayfish settlement, it was developed by entrepreneur Alan Bond in 1970 for the 1977 America's Cup. Yanchep Beach Road, a suburb of the main distributor roads, links to Marmion Avenue and Wanneroo Road, two north-south highways that link Yanchep to the rest of metropolitan Perth. Marmion Avenue extended to Yanchep 2008; Wanneroo Road was the only way to Yanchep Perth before the extension. Two bus lines serve Yanchep, which runs from Two Rocks Butler railway station, 10 km to the south of Butler. It is the nearest public transport hub Yanchep, providing additional bus and rail links to the regional city of Joondalup and Perth's central business district. 490 - Butler to two rocks through Yanchep 491 - Butler to YanchepThere are plans to extend the Joondalup line of 13.8 km (8.6 mi) Yanchep through Alkimos and Eglinton. In 2017 WA state budget, $ 441 million was allocated to build an extension, with construction expected to begin in 2019. When the extension opens a journey time of 49 minutes is planned from Yanchep to the CBD, with up to 13,500 people are expected to use the line every day.
