Vöcklabruck (German pronunciation: [fœklabʁʊk]) is the administrative center of the Vöcklabruck district, Austria. It is located in the western part of Upper Austria, close to the A1 motorway and the B1 highway. Vöcklabruck name derives from the river Vöckla which runs through the city, whose name in turn comes from a person's name ( "Vechela) and 'Ache', which means 'running water' and 'river'. Vöcklabruck has many shops and services and schools. It was chosen for Europäisches Schützentreffen (European Meeting Marksmen) in 2003, and has and will play host to other events such as Internationale Musiktage (International Music Gathering), Landesgartenschau (Provincial Garden Fair) in 2007 and a Erdbeerfest (strawberry festival), among others. ....
