Villa El Chocon is a village and municipality in Neuquen in southwest Argentina. The village was originally created to house the workers building Ezequiel Ramos Mexia Dam (colloquially called El Chocon Dam) on the Limay River. The dam is now complete and is the site of one of the largest hydropower plant in Argentina.Located in Villa El Chocon Ernesto Bachmann Palaeontological Museum, which exhibits a number of fossil remains found nearby, especially those of Giganotosaurus.
