Turracher Höhe, also called Turracherhöhe, refers to a village, a pass across the Alps and the countryside in Gurktal Alps in Austria. The village and the Turracher Lake at the pass, which both have the same name, separated by the border between the two states of Styria and Carinthia. Because of its distance to early settlement areas and its high location, the region has not settled until relatively late. In the 17th century, mining started in Turracherhöhe. The opening of the upper part of the pass with a paved road not until later. During the 20th century the area was gradually developed for tourism. Efforts are being made to maintain diversity of flora and fauna in Turracherhöhe through the landscape protected and accurate nature and close extension of tourist facilities. .... Transportation in Turracher Höhe Pass

The Turracher Straße (B95) cross Turracher Höhe has a comparatively low weight as a national north-south connection between Corinth and region adjacent to the north, Salzburg and Styria. It was known as the steepest Carinthia pass road, but it is more gentle today because the road was moved so that no escape is necessary. The roads used significantly more by remote traffic is the Tauernautobahn (A10) and Katschberg Straße (B99) from Bischofshofen Spittal on the west, running parallel to A10, and Frie Straße (B317) from Judenburg Klagenfurt east Turracher Höhe. The Turracher Höhe is only sparsely served by public transport. From Predlitz, where "Predlitz Turracher Höhe" train station in Murtalbahn is, a bus line in Verkehrsverbund Steiermark (Styria Transport Association) goes to the pass summit a couple of times a day, and the same for a bus connection to the ÖBB (Österreichischen Bundesbahnen, the Austrian Federal Railways) to Reichenau and on to Klagenfurt.
