City in Victoria, Australia

Traralgon (locally) is a city located in the eastern part of the Latrobe Valley in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. The urban population in Traralgon at the 2016 census was 25,485. It is the largest and fastest growing city in the greater Latrobe Valley, which has a population of 74,170 in June 2016 and is administered by the town of Latrobe. The origin of the name Traralgon is uncertain. It is believed popularly to be derived from the words from Gunai language: tarra meaning "river" and Algon means "small fish". Transportation in Traralgon

Road transport and vehicles are the main form of transportation. Princes Highway runs through the city and close to the CBD which received heavy regional traffic (although a Traralgon Bypass Road is undergoing planning). The Hyland Highway is also derived in Traralgon. Rail transport includes both rail passenger and rail freight. The city's only station is Traralgon railway station located on Orbost railway. Both Traralgon V / Line train services and Bairnsdale V / Line train services stop there. Traralgon is currently the terminus for VLocity train with a two-hour service. Time to Melbourne Flinders Street ranges of about 109 minutes during peak travel times.
