The Theth National Park (Albanian: Parku Kombëtar in Thethit) is a national park in northern Albania. Established in 1966, the park covers 2630 hectares (26.3 km2) and is centered on the Albanian Alps, covering the greater part of the Shala Valley. The park was established to protect various ecosystems and biodiversity as well as cultural and historical heritage of the region. It is dominated by high terrain, with a wide variety of natural features including valleys, rivers, mountains, waterfalls, dense forests and several rock formations. The World Conservation Union (IUCN) has listed the park as Category II. Notably, the region has also been identified as an important bird and plant area. In 2017, Theth also declared a protected historical Center.Theth villages sprawls over top Shala Valley and captured four pages of many two-thous who Radohima the west, Arapi and Poplluka Jezerca in the north and the east. Standing at 1795 m (5889 ft), leads Valbona Pass a mountain path to the west, which separates the park from Valbona Valley National Park. Like most of the Albanian Alps, the park is dominated by limestone and dolomite rocks and shows great karst features Grunas Canyon and the southern wall Arapi, which is considered the highest mountain in Balkans.Despite its limited area, the park is characterized by a very rich flora estimates vary between 1500 and 1650 species of plants, among which 70 species are endangered. Theth is part of a large preserved ecosystem of which is primarily untouched by the sheer quality. Biogeographical the Dinaric Mountains mixed forest land Ecoregion of Palearctic temperate broadleaf and mixed forests occur in the park. There are three types of forest found in the park. The oak flooring extends from an altitude of 600 meters up to 800 meters and is dominated in particular by the Austrian oak, oriental hornbeam, hophornbeam, Cornel and flowering ash. The book floor is mainly covered with plain beech, fir and maple, between 900 meters and 1900 meters. The alpine floor, lying at an altitude ranging from 1,900 meters to 2,300 meters, is characterized by herbaceous plants and shrubs most notable among them are juniper and willow. Moreover, the most important plants this floor include the Alpine bluegrass, alpine aster, trefoil and common crone trefoil.Only 20 species of mammals have been recorded in the park's land area. In addition, large mammals such as the brown bear, deer, chamois, as well as rare or endangered species such as the gray wolf, lynx and wild goats inhabit the park. 50 species have been observed, with birds of prey, such as Golden Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, nuthatch, robin, blackbird, törnskata, grouse and rock partridges. Because of the harsh winters, the park has few reptile and amphibian species.
