The Ossiach Tauern (German: Ossiacher Tauern Slovenian: Osojske Signature locally only Turje) is a wooded mountain ridge in the Austrian province of Carinthia between Lake Ossiach in the northwest and the Wörthersee in the Southeast. The highest point on the Ossiach Tauern is Taubenbühel which is 1069 m (AA). At its western end, on a prominent hill, the ruins of Landskron Castle. Not far from the re-opened the castle, now used as a restaurant and a falconry station, hikers can join the Tauern trail to Jungfernsprung, a rock formation that drops steeply to Lake Ossiach, where there is an extensive view of the west end of the lake and Gerlitze . An old quarry visible from Villach, which until recently used to produce blocks for river engineering in Carinthia. In Ossiach Tauern are also several old mine galleries. Centuries ago, zinc and other ores mined here. Colloquially Ossiach Tauern known as Die kleinen Tauern ( "the little Tauern"). On a rise above the village Tauern is the small Tauern church.
