The Mooloolah River National Park is a national protected area located on the Sunshine Coast. It covers an area of 830.9 hectares and is adjacent to the Mooloolah River in the east, Claymore and Dixon roads in the west, and Lower Mooloolah River Environmental Reserve in the south. It is bisected by the Sunshine Motorway to the north, 161.93 hectares component of the Park is a recent addition. The park was originally vacant crown land before the national park designation in 1960. The surrounding land uses cattle grazing, urban development and the campus of the University of the Sunshine Coast. It is the second largest mainland park on the coastal lowlands in southeast Queensland after the Noosa National Park and is an example of low-lying coastal floodplain characteristics of the region.the Jowarra part of the park is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Steve Irwin Way (formerly Glasshouse Mountains Road) and Bruce Highway. It is a remnant of the coastal rain forest and cut off from the main part of the park with the only connection through the Mooloolah river itself.
