Luna Park Glenelg was an amusement park that operated in Glenelg, South Australia from 1930 until 1935. Plans for a theme park in the coastal town were first raised in 1928, but not affected. 1929 was a lease to build a scenic railway at Colley Reserve granted Glenelg Town Council. This lease was extended in 1930 to include other rides and attractions (like Luna Park Melbourne), and Luna Park Glenelg opened October 8 1930.During the park's operation, there were tensions between the park's owners and the Council, with the owners complain that they did not do enough to be profitable, and the Council refuses to reduce rent or allow increased operating hours. Residents of the city also felt the amusement park was attracting unwanted. The owners began seeking alternative places, placed in the park in voluntary liquidation at the end of 1934, then bought the company's assets at auction April 8, 1935.
