Hrazdan (Armenian: Հրազդան), is a city and urban municipal society in Armenia serves as the administrative center of the Kotayk Province, is 45 kilometers (28 miles) northeast of the capital Yerevan. As of the census of 2011, the population of the town of 41,875. It has lost a large number of people since 1989, the census reported 59,000 people. In Soviet times, Hrazdan was one of the highly industrialized centers of the Armenian SSR. The PRELACY the Diocese of Kotayk of the Armenian Apostolic Church has its headquarters in Hrazdan. .... Hrazdan is an important transport junction between the capital Yerevan and the northern provinces of Armenia. M-4 highway connecting Yerevan with northern Armenia, passes through the southwest edge of the city. As a provincial center Hrazdan is connected to the rest of Kotayk by an extensive network of roads. The city is also an important railway station on the South Caucasus Railway.
