Forrest River is a river in the Kimberley in Western Australia. The river rises just east of pseudomys Hill in Drysdale River National Park and flows in an easterly direction until the release of the west branch of the Cambridge Gulf. The river was named in 1884 by Staff Commander J. E. Coghlan simultaneously conduct hydrographic surveys in the area. The river is named for John Forrest who was the Surveyor General at the time and later became prime minister of Western Australia.
