Capilla del Monte is a small town in the northeast of the province of Córdoba, Argentina, located in the Sierras Chicas mountain range in the north end of the Punilla Valley. It has about 11,281 inhabitants per the 2010 census [National Institute of Statistics and Census of Argentina]. The main tourist attraction in the area is the Cerro Uritorco, a small mountain just 3 km from the city, known around Argentina as a center for alleged paranormal and UFO sightings. The city also has the tall El Cajon Dam and its huge reservoir. Capilla del Monte was founded 30 October 1585. Its name means "Mount chapel" in Spanish.
