Cape York Peninsula is a large remote peninsula located in Far North Queensland, Australia. It is the largest untouched wilderness in northern Australia. The land is mostly flat and about half of the area is used for grazing cattle. The relatively undisturbed eucalyptus wooded savannas, tropical rain forests and other types of habitats are now recognized and preserved for their global environmental significance, but the native wildlife are threatened by introduced species and weeds.In 1606, Dutch sailor Willem Janszoon aboard the Duyfken reached Australia its first known European explorer, reached Cape York Peninsula. Transportation in Cape York Peninsula

There are two routes passing north-south through Cape York Peninsula Cape York: Developmental Peninsula Road (PDR) and the Northern Peninsula Road (also called Bamaga Road and Telegraph Road).
