Broke Inlet is an inlet in the southwest region of Western Australia is 19 kilometers (12 mi) west of Walpole. The inlet is a big one shallow mouth was found on the east side of D'Entrecasteaux National Park, it is linked to the Southern Ocean by a narrow seasonal open channel located between two high dune systems.The inlet is the only major estuary left in the Southwest as has not changed significantly by developments in its catchment area or along its shores. The acquisition zone of the inlet has an area of 928 square kilometers (358 square mile) and the inlet itself has a surface area of 4800 ha (11.861 acre) of a total of 72,000,000 cubic meters (2.5 × 109 cu ft). The inlet receives an annual inflow of 187 million cubic meters (6.6 × 109 cu ft), mainly from the River Shannon and discharges 157 million cubic meters (5.5 × 109 cu ft) annually.The water in inlet brackish and mostly have half the salinity of the sea water . The salinity varies greatly depending on the river discharge season and the bar is open or not. Broke Inlet is listed as a regionally significant wetland with Environment Australia. ....
