Bendigo is a city in Victoria, Australia, located near the geographic center of the state and about 150 kilometers (93 miles) northwest of the state capital, Melbourne. As of June 2018, Bendigo had an urban population of 99,122, making it the fourth largest inland city in Australia and the fourth most populous city in the state. It is the administrative center for the City of Greater Bendigo, covering both the urban area and remote areas spanning an area of ​​around 3,000 km2 (1158 sq mi) and over 111,000 people.The discovery of gold in the ground in Bendigo in 1850 made it one of the most significant Victorian era boom towns in Australia.
