Abovyan or Abovian (Armenian: Աբովյան), is a city and urban municipal society in Armenia in Kotayk Province. It is 16 kilometers (10 miles) northeast Yerevan and 32 kilometers (20 miles) south of the province center Hrazdan. As of the census of 2011, the population of the town of 43,495, down from 59,000 reported at the 1989 census. Currently, the city has an approximate population of 35,400 by 2016 official estimate. With a highway and the railway runs through the city connecting Yerevan with the areas of the northeast's Abovyan be a satellite town of the Armenian capital.
